The story of
Stoops Bagnet Ilocos began when two good friends- Jay Seneres and Galen Cid
were inspired to open a restaurant serving authentic Ilocano cuisine in Manila,
because of their own cravings and their voracious appetite for Ilocano food.
They were both working for an airline company at that time. Galen who is an Ilocano from Bacarra, Ilocos Norte would invite Jay to spend their vacations in his hometown. Galen’s mother would cook adobo Ilokano, igado, dinengdeng and pinakbet for them from fresh meats and vegetables. Jay was introduced to bagoong with talbos ng kamote, kamatis and lasuna (native onions)...to empanada, sukang Iloko, longganisa, atbp. And the most unforgettable of them all—the bagnet! Jay was hooked.
